Arts Journalism Internship | Tulsa and Oklahoma City
Oklahomans for the Arts seeks undergraduate or graduate journalism students with an interest in arts and culture, public policy, education and social justice for two fall 2011 Arts Journalism internships. One intern will be selected from the Oklahoma City region and one from the Tulsa region.
The interns will act as field reporters for Oklahomans for the Arts and contribute content to OklahomansfortheArts.org. Interns will receive byline credit, and some articles or blogs may be featured in news releases, print publications and/or disseminated to Oklahomans for the Arts subscribers.
Interns will set his/her hours, and may work offsite after initial training if desired. Number of hours per week is flexible, but should be a minimum of five hours per week from October through December 2011. The internships are unpaid, but staff will work with colleges and universities to arrange for credit. A mileage stipend of $50 per month is provided, and some free tickets/passes to events may be arranged.
Oklahomans for the Arts looks forward to working closely with the interns, providing mentorship, social media and advocacy training, and opportunities to publish new stories and blogs on a quality site.

- Write two blog posts each month for OklahomansfortheArts.org. Posts will focus on the creative economy; the business of arts/culture; public funding for the arts; arts/culture aspirations and successes of Oklahoma communities, and arts education success stories. Assignments will be explored and agreed upon in advance with the director.
- Write news reports on issues affecting the arts on an as-needed basis.
