Six nominees to the Oklahoma Arts Council approved by Senate Education Committee

Sixteen of Gov. Mary Fallin’s nominees to various education and education-related entities won the approval Monday of the Senate Education Committee. Six nominees to the Oklahoma Arts Council were approved, including:

  • Susan Coles, of Edmond, to serve a three-year term ending July 1, 2014, succeeding James Tolbert III, sponsored by Sen. Greg Treat, R-Edmond;
  • Ann Hargis, from Oklahoma City, to serve a three-year term ending July 1, 2014, succeeding Kym KochThompson, sponsored by Sen. Cliff Branan, R-Oklahoma City;
  • Nancy Leonard, of Oklahoma City, to serve a three-year term ending July 1, 2014, succeeding Saundra Evans, sponsored by Sen. Constance Johnson, D-Oklahoma City; 
  • James Pickel, from Oklahoma City, to serve a three-year term ending July 1, 2015, succeeding himself, also sponsored by Johnson; 
  • Joseph Perry “JP” Richard, of Lawton, to serve a three-year term ending July 1, 2014, succeeding Nance Diamond, sponsored by Sen. Randy Bass, D-Lawton; and
  • Hannah Robson, from Tulsa, to serve a three-year term ending July 1, 2014, succeeding Mary Jane Wade, sponsored by Sen. Gary Stanislawski, R-Tulsa.

The nominations now go to the full Senate for consideration.
