Member Minute: ArtworksOK, Inc.

rtworks arts camp normanToday’s Member Minute recognizes ArtworksOK, Inc., is a summer program for 8-12-year-olds that offers art activities for kids. Since the emphasis is on process rather than product, Artworks is beneficial for all children, with or without experience in the arts. Children are encouraged to explore and discover their own interests and talents.

Students may participate in kids’ music, dance classes, visual arts, theatre, and LEGO™ creations. The children choose a major and two additional areas of study in which they spend four hours of class time daily. Games and cookouts are also part of the Artworks experience. Showcases for parents at the end of each session provide an opportunity for the students to display what they have learned.

The day camp takes place at First Christian Church in Oklahoma City, but is an independent non-profit organization. Three two-week sessions are held in June and July. Put Artworks on your radar for next summer!

Thank you, Artsworks, for supporting Oklahomans for the Arts and our work advocating for public funding for the arts via the Oklahoma Arts Council!
